What LAUT Barcelona Is Like: Small-Format Clubbing in Poble-sec

· Updated:

LAUT is a small electronic music club at Carrer de Vila i Vilà 63, in the Poble-sec area of Barcelona, Spain, open on Fridays and Saturdays from midnight to 5am. It opened in 2017 in an old carpentry workshop and sums itself up in four words: “clubbing en pequeño formato”, small-format clubbing.

An old workshop turned into a club

LAUT's own story is short and clear: it opened in 2017 in a former carpentry workshop in Poble-sec to offer electronic music and clubbing away from the big, crowded venues, and to be a meeting point for the Barcelona scene. Resident Advisor describes industrial fittings and a sleek design, and Time Out goes further: it is the closest thing Barcelona has to a Berlin club, “un templo oscuro, divertido y con una cuidadísima acústica”, a dark, fun temple with very carefully tuned acoustics. The sound system is L-Acoustics, and RA, which lists it as a small-capacity room, singles out its powerful sound and impeccable acoustics.

The music: selectors, not hits

RA calls the programming experimental and avant-garde, with local and international DJs. October 2026 gives a good idea of what that means in practice. There was a night dedicated to Tbilisi, now one of Europe's techno reference points; a HOC Radio night where Katatonic Silentio debuted in the booth with an extended set of three and a half hours; the Australian DJ and producer Moopie with his “groove without labels”; and Draft, a Barcelona collective of record diggers. The preview for November promised back-to-backs and all-night-long sets. If you want chart house or big-room techno, this is not the place; if you like DJs who take you somewhere over several hours, it is.

Note the closing time: LAUT shuts at 5am even on Fridays and Saturdays, an hour before the legal limit for clubs in Catalonia on those nights. Time Out adds that it also hosts concerts, usually very danceable ones.

Age, dress code and the room

LAUT does not publish a minimum age or a dress code. By Catalan law under-16s cannot enter a club, and each party can set its own age on the ticket, so bring ID. It is a small, dark room: dress for dancing, not for photos. If you lose something, the club handles lost property by email and items are collected on Wednesdays.

The neighbourhood and getting home

LAUT is a few metres from Sala Apolo, so it is easy to combine with a gig there or with Nitsa on the same night. With a 5am close, the Saturday all-night metro makes the trip home simple; on Fridays the metro stops around 2am, so it is the NitBus (every 20 minutes until 6am, almost all lines through plaça de Catalunya) or a taxi. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you who is playing that weekend.
