Restaurant by day, club by night
Opium has two lives. During the day and at dinner it is a restaurant with a terrace right on the sand and a Mediterranean menu. From around 23:30 the club takes over, and the club's own website says its events finish somewhere between 04:00 and 06:00 depending on the night. It sits in the row of seafront clubs at the Port Olímpic, between CDLC at number 32 and Shôko at 36, so on a busy weekend the whole promenade is full of people moving between doors. Time Out's October 2026 list describes it as a restaurant with a sea-facing terrace and 'a sophisticated club' with an international reputation, and recalls that it was ranked seventh in The World's 100 Best Clubs in 2023. In 2026 it is again among the Catalan clubs in the running for that list.

The nights: something on every day of the week
Opium's Instagram bio simply says 'Open every day', and the club's ticket agenda for the week of 21 October 2026 shows a different name for each night: 'Monday Madness' on Monday, 'Full Party' on Wednesday, 'Jet Lag' on Thursday, 'Addicted' on Friday from 23:30 to 06:00, 'Just Opium' on Saturday and 'Off Duty' on Sunday, which starts earlier (22:30) and ends at 04:00. Monday and Thursday are the nights with the most international crowd, because that's when the student and traveller guest lists point people here. For Halloween 2026 Opium runs four nights in a row, from Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November.
Music and crowd
Don't expect underground techno. Nightlife directories file Opium under EDM, commercial house and top hits, with some urban music, and Time Out adds R&B and dance. The club's site talks about 'hits' and international guest artists. The crowd is a mix of tourists, Erasmus students on the international nights and locals at the weekend.
Age and dress code
Opium is 18+, so bring a passport, DNI or residence card with a photo. Catalan law only bars under-16s from clubs; anything above that is the club's own admission policy. The dress code is one of the few that a Barcelona club actually publishes: Opium asks guests to 'dress elegantly', meaning dress shirts, blouses or fashionable tops and well-fitted trousers, skirts or dresses. Smart trainers 'may be acceptable', but flip-flops, beach sandals and sportswear (football shirts, tracksuit bottoms, gym clothes) are not, and the door can refuse entry to anyone who doesn't follow the rule. Coming straight from the beach in shorts is the classic way to get turned away.
