What Antilla Barcelona Is Like: The Salsa Club With Over 30 Years Behind It

· Updated:

Antilla is a salsa club in Barcelona with more than 30 years behind it, playing salsa, bachata and timba from Friday to Sunday. Friday nights are at Carrer d'Alcolea 100, and since 18 October 2026 the Sunday afternoon dance has moved to Merecumbé Discoteca, at Carrer de Viladomat 211.

Three decades of salsa

Antilla is one of the names anyone who dances salsa in Barcelona knows. A 2024 guide dates it to 1993, and its own bio talks about 'more than 30 years sharing experiences'. It calls itself 'Antilla Cosmopolita', and that fits the room: dancers of every origin and level, from people who have been coming for decades to beginners who show up for the class. This isn't a reggaeton club with a Latin night. Here the music is salsa, bachata and timba, the Cuban style that regular salsa dancers look for, and people come to dance in pairs.

Friday to Sunday

Antilla's bio says 'Friday to Sunday', and in October 2026 its programme had two fixed dates. Friday is the night, from 22:00 to 05:00 at Alcolea 100 ('Fridays are Antilla and you know it', as a post from October 2026 put it). Sunday is different: an afternoon dance. On Sunday 25 October 2026 it ran from 18:00 to 23:00 with DJ Manel, hosts Emilio and Fernando, and a dance class. The club sells Sunday as the way to end the week dancing without a late finish. It also posts notices when it changes plans: on Friday 23 October 2026 it stayed closed, and it announced it on Instagram three days before.

October 2026: a new home for Sundays

On 14 October 2026 Antilla posted: 'We're moving, but the party is still the same'. From Sunday 18 October its Sunday session, 18:00 to 23:00, takes place at Merecumbé Discoteca, Carrer de Viladomat 211, according to its Instagram, while Friday stays at Alcolea 100. If you've searched 'Antilla Barcelona closing', this is probably why: the club hasn't announced a closure, but its Sunday party has changed address. Before you go, check which address your night is at, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you.

Do you need to know how to dance?

No, but it helps to know what you're walking into. Most people dance in couples and dance with different people through the night, which is normal at a salsa club. If you're a beginner, Sunday is the best day: the class at the start gives you a few steps before the dance floor fills. Comfortable shoes that turn well matter more than any dress code; the club doesn't publish one.

Age and prices

Antilla doesn't publish a minimum age or a standard price, and sells some events in advance online. Catalan law keeps under-16s out of nightclubs and dance halls (Decree 112/2010, art. 53) and each venue can set a higher age, so bring ID. Ask us on WhatsApp what the weekend you want costs.

Other places to dance salsa and bachata

If Antilla is closed or you want to try somewhere else: Hyde Club, by Passeig de GrĂ cia, runs a bachata and salsa night on Sundays from 19:00 with a class; Titus, in Badalona, has a salsa and bachata room on Saturday nights; and Sala Bikini has had salsa and bachata on some Saturdays. A Sunday at Antilla ends at 23:00, which fits the metro, since on Sundays it runs until around midnight (TMB).
