A club built around the show

Believe calls itself “The Barcelona Drag Club” in its Instagram bio, and the format follows from that: you do not go to Believe to stand in a dark room listening to a DJ, you go for a night where the drag show is the main event and the dancing comes around it. Its website talks about a show every day and a team of more than 15 drag queens and artists, including pole dancers, dancers and singers. Time Out gave it four stars in July 2025 and described nights that mix music, comedy and irreverence, calling them proper parties.

The website and the Instagram bio differ slightly on when the doors open at weekends (11pm or midnight), so if you want to catch the start of the show, ask before you go. The general pattern is the same any night: arrive, get a drink, watch the show, and then the club turns into a dance floor with themed parties and guest DJs until closing.

The crowd and the neighbourhood

Time Out describes a crowd of drag fans, LGBTIQ+ people who love a show and anyone after a loose night out, and places the club at the centre of the city's queer nightlife. That fits the location: Balmes 56 is in the Gaixample, the part of the Eixample with the highest concentration of LGBTQ+ bars, and Believe belongs to Believe Group, which according to Time Out also runs bars such as Priscilla Café, La Carrà and Titanic. Strass, another drag venue, is on Carrer de Villarroel, a short walk away. Believe also rents the space for birthdays, private parties and company events.

Age, door and dress

Believe does not publish a minimum age or a dress code on its website. Catalan law keeps under-16s out of clubs and music bars (Decree 112/2010), and beyond that the venue sets its own entry conditions, so carry ID with a photo. Dress is relaxed: this is a show club, and nobody is going to check your shoes. Groups, especially hen and stag parties and birthdays, are common, so if you are coming with friends it is worth booking ahead.

Getting home

From Sunday to Thursday the metro stops around midnight and on Fridays around 2am, so on most nights you will leave Believe after the last train. The NitBus night buses run every 20 minutes until 6am and almost all lines stop at Plaça de Catalunya, about ten minutes' walk from Balmes 56. On Saturday nights the metro runs all night. If you want to book a table for a group or check which show is on, message us on WhatsApp.

Before and after: the Gaixample

Believe is easy to fit into a night around the area. Believe Group, according to Time Out, also runs bars such as Priscilla Café, La Carrà, Elvira Café, Pink Corner and The Blond, so you can start with a drink nearby and walk over when the show is about to begin. Strass, on Carrer de Villarroel, has its own drag show from 23:30, and Arena Experience, by Urquinaona, opens every night from 00:30 if your group wants a bigger dance floor afterwards.
