What City Hall Barcelona Is Like: The Theatre Club by Plaça de Catalunya

· Updated:

City Hall is a nightclub inside a former theatre at Rambla de Catalunya 2-4, right by Plaça de Catalunya, and it opens every night of the year. The main room and a smaller second room split the music: techno, hard techno and house on most nights, and old-school reggaeton on Mondays.

A theatre turned into a club

The name confuses people (in English 'city hall' means the town hall), but this City Hall is a club. It calls itself 'Teatro Club & 2 Room': the main room is the old theatre, which keeps its architecture, and there's a second space the club calls Sala 2 or Secret Room. Its website puts it as 'this theatre becomes a temple of rhythm'. Location is its big advantage: it's at the top of Rambla de Catalunya, a few steps from the square where almost every night bus in the city stops. For tourists staying in the centre, it's the techno club you can walk to, and for locals it's an option on a Monday or Tuesday, when most clubs are closed.

365 nights: what plays each day

City Hall says it's open 365 days a year, and its programme changes by the night rather than by the season. A normal week in October 2026 looked like this: Monday 'Monday Perreo', old-school reggaeton in the main room with a techno session in Sala 2; Tuesday, more old reggaeton in the Secret Room and another party in the main room; Wednesday, minimal in the main room and hard techno in Sala 2; Thursday, hardcore and techno. Weekends bring themed nights from collectives, which is where the club gets most of its variety: a makina night with veteran DJs (17 October), the techno and cult party Pandemonium, and a Metalcore Party moved to Saturday 24 October after the weather forced it off its original date. The club's own summary is 'techno, hard techno, house and urban music'.

The crowd and the age limit

With hard techno one night and reggaeton the next, the crowd changes completely from day to day: local ravers, students on a Monday guest list and tourists who walk up from Plaça de Catalunya. City Hall doesn't publish a standard age rule, and for its Halloween party on Saturday 31 October 2026 the age was still 'to be confirmed'. Catalan law keeps under-16s out of nightclubs (Decree 112/2010, art. 53) and each venue can set a higher limit, so for a normal night count on 18+ and bring a passport or ID.

Dress code and prices

There's no written dress code. On the techno nights people dress dark and comfortable, and on reggaeton nights a bit more done up. Its Monday posts advertise free guest lists, and the Halloween 2026 ticket was €20.50 (as a guide, October 2026). For any other night, ask us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what's on and how to get in.

Halloween 2026

City Hall has two Halloween nights in 2026: a promoter's special on Friday 30 October and a reggaeton party, 'Parche… Los Extraterrestres', on Saturday 31 from 23:59.

Getting there and back

This is the easiest club in the city to get home from. All NitBus lines except the N0 and N19 pass through Plaça de Catalunya, every 20 minutes from 22:30 to 06:00, and the metro runs all night from Saturday into Sunday and until 2am on Fridays (AMB, TMB). On Monday to Thursday the metro stops around midnight, so plan on the night bus or a taxi.
