What Downtown Barcelona Is Like: Music, Nights, Age and Dress Code

· Updated:

Downtown is a large commercial nightclub in Les Corts, Barcelona, at Avinguda Doctor Marañón 17, open Thursday to Saturday with reggaeton, chart hits and commercial house until 5am or 6am. It calls itself the 'Biggest club in town' and turned five in October 2026.

Where it is and what kind of place it is

Downtown isn't in the old town or on the beach. It sits at the top end of the Diagonal, by the university campus, in the Les Corts district, the same part of town as Sala Bikini. It's a commercial club in the classic sense: a big dance floor, a DJ playing what everyone knows and VIP tables that the club books over WhatsApp. 'Biggest club in town' is the line in its own Instagram bio, not a ranking, and we haven't found a published capacity figure to back it up, so take it as the club's own pitch. What it does stress, on its website and in its posts, is the crowd and the atmosphere. On 19 October 2026 it threw a night for its fifth anniversary, which makes it a young club next to the city's old names.

The nights: Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Downtown runs three named nights. Thursday is 'Wild Thursday', from 23:59 to 05:00. Friday is 'Pulse of Friday' and Saturday is 'The Vibe Saturday', which goes on until 06:00 (club listings, October 2026). Those times fit the Catalan rules, which let nightclubs open until 5am and one hour later on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before a public holiday (Order INT/358/2011). From Sunday to Wednesday it's closed. Friday and Saturday also show up on the international student party listings for October 2026, with an early guest list, so if you're on Erasmus there's a good chance your group ends up here at some point.

The music

The sound is commercial: reggaeton, top hits and commercial house, according to the club's directory listings. This isn't a techno club or a live music venue. It's where you go to sing along to the songs that are everywhere, with some old-school reggaeton thrown in. If you want electronic music, Barcelona has plenty of it, but in other rooms.

Age and dress code

Downtown is an adults' club. For its Halloween party on Saturday 31 October 2026 the ticket page asked for 18+, and one international guest list for Saturdays in October asked for 19. Catalan law sets the floor at 16 for nightclubs (Decree 112/2010, art. 53) and lets each venue raise it on its admission sign, so check the age for your date and bring ID; for most visitors that means a passport. As for clothes, the club doesn't publish a written dress code on its website. In a commercial club like this the safe bet is to dress up a little: clean trainers or shoes, nothing sporty and nothing you'd wear on the beach. Coming as a big group or a stag or hen party? What a night costs

As a rough guide, the club's Google listing showed a €10 to €60 range in October 2026, and Halloween tickets (31/10/2026) started at €30 with one drink. The price depends on the night, the time you arrive and whether you're on a list or buying a ticket; VIP tables are separate and are booked ahead. New Year's Eve at Downtown

Downtown already had its New Year's Eve party on sale in October 2026, running from 23:59 on the 31st to 06:30 on 1 January. That's later than a normal Saturday because the Catalan rules add extra time on New Year's Eve.

Getting there and back

The club's own directions: Zona Universitària metro (L3 and L9 Sud), the T1, T2 and T3 trams at the Avinguda de Xile stop, and the N12 night bus at Diagonal-Av Doctor Marañón. Getting back, Barcelona's metro runs until 2am on Friday night and all night from Saturday into Sunday; on Thursday it stops around midnight. NitBus night buses run every 20 minutes from 22:30 to 06:00 (TMB, AMB). Map and details are on the venue page.

Who it's for

Downtown suits groups in their twenties who want a big commercial night with reggaeton and hits, students who move with the international lists, and anyone celebrating with a table. If you're after an underground sound or a small bar, look elsewhere.
