Thirty years of techno in a small room

Its Instagram bio is the whole pitch: “Techno des del 96. BCN's underground pulse, 365 nits l'any”, techno since '96, 365 nights a year. Its website goes further and calls it the first techno club in Barcelona, and in 2026 it is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Time Out counts it among the smallest clubs in the city and says that is part of its prestige: heavyweight DJs who could fill much bigger rooms come to play here. In October 2026 alone, Derrick May, one of the pioneers of Detroit techno, played on Friday 9th, and Serkin had the club to himself for an all-night set on Friday 30th.

Two floors, two moods

Moog is built on two levels. Downstairs is the main floor, with harder techno and house; upstairs there is a small room with lighter, more pop-leaning sets, according to Resident Advisor. Time Out describes the same layout as a central dance floor plus a little room above. On a big night that is the catch: it gets packed, and in such a small space a full room is part of the experience or a reason to arrive early, depending on how you see it. RA's advice is to get there early because of the queue.

Being open every night makes Moog the answer to “where can I hear techno on a Tuesday?”. Weeknights lean on residents; weekends bring guests and longer sets, like Bambi's six-hour all-night-long session on Friday 23 October. For Halloween, Saturday 31 October was themed “La Purga”. Sold-out nights are marked on the website, and big names do sell out, so for those buy ahead.

Age, dress code and the crowd

Moog does not publish a minimum age or a dress code. Catalan law keeps under-16s out of clubs and the door can set its own conditions, so bring your DNI or passport. Time Out describes the crowd as underground, and that is the vibe: people who come for the DJ, not to be seen. The club is run by Grup Mas i Mas, according to its website, and has its own series linked to SĂłnar.

Getting there and back

Arc del Teatre is a short side street off the lower Rambla, so you can walk from most of the old town. Les Enfants Brillants, another electronic club, is close by in the Raval. Going home, the metro runs all night only from Saturday to Sunday; on other nights it closes at midnight (2am on Fridays), so it is the NitBus or a taxi. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you who is on that night.
