Strass Barcelona: the Drag Bar on Carrer de Villarroel

Strass is a small drag bar at Carrer de Villarroel 68, on the corner with Diputació in the Gaixample area of Barcelona, Spain, with a drag show every night from around 11:30pm and a crowd that comes as much to laugh as to dance.

A bar where the show is the point

Strass sums itself up in four words on its Instagram bio: “Shows de drag queens”. It is not a big club with several rooms, it is a bar with a stage, and the night is built around the drag performance. Time Out described it as a place with a show every single night from 23:30, a line-up that mixes established names from the scene with new talent, and an atmosphere where having a laugh is what matters most. The account was active on 21 October 2026, the day we checked it.

What a night at Strass looks like

The usual plan is simple: arrive a bit before the show to get a good spot, have a drink, watch the performance and stay on afterwards while the music takes over. Drag here leans towards comedy and audience interaction, so if you sit at the front, expect to become part of the show. It works well as the first or second stop of a Gaixample night, before heading to a bigger club like Arena Experience or, on a Saturday, to Safari for YASS!.

The Sunday bingo

Sundays have their own ritual. According to Time Out, the “Bingo del Domingo” is held just before the drag show, with prizes of up to €300. It is the kind of plan that fills a bar on the quietest night of the week, and a good answer if you are in Barcelona on a Sunday and most clubs are closed or winding down. Time Out's piece is from February 2023, so check that the bingo is still on before you plan around it.

Hours, age and practical details

Strass does not publish a dress code. It is a relaxed bar, and the only real advice is to arrive early on Fridays and Saturdays, because space is limited and the show draws a crowd. The age rule in Catalonia comes from Decree 112/2010, which keeps under-16s out of music bars and clubs; beyond that, carry ID with a photo in case the door asks.

Getting there and getting home

Villarroel 68 is in the Eixample Esquerra, a short walk from Believe Club on Balmes and from the bars around Muntaner. To get home, remember the metro closes around midnight from Sunday to Thursday and around 2am on Fridays and nights before holidays, and runs all night only from Saturday into Sunday. The NitBus night buses run every 20 minutes from 22:30 to 06:00, and almost all of them stop at Plaça de Catalunya. Strass or Believe?

The two are often mentioned together and are a short walk apart, but they are different formats. Strass is a bar with a stage, where the show starts at 23:30 and you are close to the performers. Believe, on Balmes, is a club with a cast of more than 15 drag queens and artists, open from 23:00 until 5 or 6am. Plenty of people do both on the same night: the show at Strass first, then dancing at Believe or at Arena Experience.
