What Sala Upload Is Like: Montjuïc's Underground Gig and Club Venue

· Updated:

Sala Upload is a concert venue and club inside the Poble Espanyol, on Montjuïc in Barcelona, Spain, that books the underground: punk, garage, shoegaze and indie gigs, then club nights that range from electronic to combative reggaeton. It calls itself the “musical refuge of underground Barcelona”, and it is not the same place as INPUT, even though they share an address.

What the room looks and feels like

Time Out sums up the look in two details: a black-and-white tiled floor and a curtain over the dance floor straight out of Twin Peaks. It is a room for subcultures that do not fit the commercial circuit, and the programming proves it. Upload's own line about itself is simple: if anyone asks what Upload is, show them the week's programme. The week of 19 October 2026 went from the garage of Bass Drum of Death to music from Mali; the week before, it opened six days in a row; and on Saturday 24 October it hosted the first edition of loveless, a new festival devoted to shoegaze.

Gigs with a story

Upload is a stepping stone for bands. In October the venue reminded its followers that Guitarricadelafuente played his first ever venue gig there, on 9 March 2019, years before reaching the Oscars. It also brings veterans: The Slackers, formed in New York in 1991, played in October 2026. For a visitor, that means one thing: a gig at Upload is a way to see a band before it gets big, and then stay for the club.

The club nights

After the gigs, Upload turns into a club with a rotating cast of parties rather than one fixed brand. Time Out singles out La Bellaquera, a night of combative perreo, as one to go to. The autumn 2026 calendar shows the range:

  • Friday 23 October: Yelo Club.
  • Thursday 29 October: Bichiween x FEIN, a Halloween party.
  • Friday 30 October: Fervo Fluxo.
  • Saturday 31 October: Nocturna Festival, from 8pm, tickets from €39.30.
  • Thursday 5 November: Ninot@Club. Friday 6: SUDOR. Saturday 7: La Bellaquera.

Upload and INPUT: same address, different night

Both are at Avinguda de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia 13, in the Poble Espanyol, which confuses a lot of people. INPUT is a weekend house and techno club with a Funktion-One rig and 20+ parties; Upload is a gig venue first, with punk, electronic, garage, rock and reggaeton nights and a more alternative crowd. In summer La Terrrazza, the open-air club, joins them in the same grounds.

Age, rules and getting home

Upload does not publish a general minimum age. Each event sets its own; under Catalan law, under-16s can only be in a concert venue for a live show with a parent or guardian. It describes itself as an inclusive space free of discrimination and harassment and has a protocol for sexual assaults. The nearest station is Espanya (L1, L3 and FGC). The metro runs all night only on Saturday; other nights, plan the NitBus or a taxi. Ask us on WhatsApp what is on that week.
