Erasmus in Barcelona: Student Nights Each Day of the Week and Where to Go

· Updated:

Erasmus nightlife in Barcelona runs every night of the week: Opium, Ku and Jamboree on Mondays, the Zona Alta clubs (Sutton, Bling Bling, Luz de Gas) on Wednesdays, Opium's international night on Thursdays, and guest lists at Downtown, Twenties, La Biblio and the seafront clubs at weekends.

An Erasmus party here isn't a special venue: it's a normal club night where exchange students get a free or cheaper list before a set time. The table below shows which clubs had student-friendly nights in the week of 19 to 25 October 2026. Nights change through the year, so message us before you go.

The week starts on the beach. On Mondays Opium runs Monday Madness, Ku has its own Monday night and Jamboree on Plaça Reial switches from live jazz to hip-hop; lists are typically free until 01:30. Tuesday is the quiet one, though Colors on La Rambla and Ku stay open. Wednesday moves uptown: Sutton's Polaris night runs from 23:45 to 05:30, Bling Bling and Luz de Gas open too, and Costa Breve on Aribau keeps entry at €4.

Thursday: the international night

Thursday is when exchange and local students overlap. Opium holds its international night on the seafront, Sutton runs Jolie Thursdays, La Biblio does its University Party on the corner of Tuset and Moià, and Twenties hosts university association nights in the Eixample. Costa Breve's Superjueves comes with €3 drinks. Clubs close at 05:00 on a Thursday, so most nights wind down earlier than at weekends.

The weekend and Sunday

At weekends the student lists spread out: Downtown in Les Corts, Twenties, La Fira Villarroel for reggaeton, La Biblio (free list until 01:00 on Saturdays) and all the seafront clubs. Arena Experience, by Urquinaona, is the LGBTQ+ option on Fridays. Sunday is still a night out here: Shôko plays hip-hop and R&B, Ku goes techno with a free list until 01:00, Opium opens earlier with its Off Duty night (22:30 to 04:00) and Jamboree keeps going.

ESN Barcelona: the student associations

Barcelona has four active sections of the Erasmus Student Network: ESN Barcelona UB, ESN UAB, ESN Barcelona UPF and ESN UPC. They organise Welcome Days in September, Integration Weekends (ESN UAB's was in Girona on 26 and 27 September 2026), trips and cultural events. None of them publishes a fixed weekly club night, so the Erasmus nights above are run by the clubs and their guest lists, not by ESN. The ESNcard is worth having for ESN trips and activities.

When students arrive, and what it costs

In 2026-27 the UAB began classes on 7 September, the UB on 14 September and the UPF its autumn term on 28 September. The second intake comes in January and February 2027. On a normal night expect a free list before 01:00 or 01:30 at many commercial clubs, entry from around €12 to €15 after that, and cheaper midweek deals like Costa Breve's. Almost every club is 18+, a few nights are 21+ or 23+, and you'll need physical ID. On Saturdays the Metro runs all night; on other nights, the NitBus does.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Erasmus party?

A club night aimed at exchange students, usually with a free or cheaper guest list if you arrive before a set time, often 01:00 or 01:30. In Barcelona they happen at regular clubs such as Opium, Ku, Sutton or Downtown, not at special venues.

Which night is the Erasmus party in Barcelona?

Every night has one, but the big ones are Monday (Opium, Ku, Jamboree), Wednesday (Sutton, Bling Bling, Luz de Gas) and Thursday, when Opium holds its international night. At weekends the lists move to Downtown, Twenties, La Biblio and the seafront.

Do I need an ESNcard to go out?

No. Club guest lists don't ask for it. The ESNcard is the student card of the Erasmus Student Network; ESN Barcelona UPF, for example, sold it with its Welcome Days pack for €35 in 2026, and it is useful for ESN trips and activities.

What's the age limit at Erasmus nights?

By law, under-16s cannot enter nightclubs in Catalonia. In practice almost every club sets 18+, and some nights are 20+, 21+ or 23+. Bring a physical passport or ID card.

When do Erasmus students arrive in Barcelona?

For the 2026-27 year, the UAB started on 7 September, the UB on 14 September and the UPF's autumn term on 28 September, with welcome events from 14 September. The second wave arrives for the UPF's winter term (from 7 January 2027) and the UAB's second semester (from 1 February 2027).
