Student Nightlife in Barcelona, Night by Night

· Updated:

Student nightlife in Barcelona is a Wednesday and Thursday thing, and most of it happens in the Zona Alta, between Carrer de Tuset and Carrer d'Aribau: La Biblio's University Party and Sutton's Jolie Thursdays on Thursday, Costa Breve's €4 Wednesday and Bling Bling's midweek nights, according to the clubs' listings for the week of 21 October 2026.

This guide is for students who live here, from the UB, UAB, UPF, UPC and the private business schools. If you're on an exchange and want the international nights, read our Erasmus guide too: the clubs overlap, but the nights that are sold to international students are a different circuit. The clubs below change their programme every week, so we date every row. If something has changed, message us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what's on that week.

Thursday: the university night

If you only go out once a week as a student in Barcelona, it will probably be Thursday. La Biblio, on Carrer de Moià at the corner of Tuset, puts University Party in its Instagram bio as its Thursday night, and its music is commercial, top hits and reggaeton. Three doors down, Sutton runs Jolie Thursdays from midnight to 05:00; the 22 October 2026 edition was billed with ESIC, the business school. Twenties, in the Eixample at Carrer del Rosselló 208, had UPC Farra that same Thursday, a party billed under the name of the Universitat Politècnica. Costa Breve's Superjueves goes for price, with drinks advertised at €3.

Outside the Zona Alta, Thursday also works in Poblenou and Les Corts. Wolf, on Carrer dels Almogàvers, opens Thursday to Saturday and on Thursdays runs Wolfeo from 00:30 to 05:00; its own website mentions university parties. Downtown, on Avinguda del Doctor Marañón near the Diagonal, opens its weekend on Thursday with Wild Thursday, from 23:59 to 05:00. On the seafront, Opium also has a Thursday night (Jet Lag on 22 October 2026), but its Thursday crowd is mostly international students and tourists: that's the Erasmus circuit.

Wednesday: the cheap night

Wednesday is where students save money. Costa Breve, at Carrer d'Aribau 230, opens Wednesday to Saturday and on 21 October 2026 sold entry at €4 for Back to Basics, from 00:30 to 05:00. Sutton's Polaris Wednesdays run from 23:45 to 05:30, and Bling Bling, which also opens Wednesday to Saturday, had Mamma x Wild from 00:30 to 05:00. Luz de Gas, on Carrer de Muntaner, also opens on Wednesdays with its own night. The three Tuset clubs are a short walk apart, which is why many groups start in one and end in another.

At 18: what the door asks for

Catalan law (Decree 112/2010, article 53) only bars under-16s from clubs; from there each venue sets its own minimum. Most of the student nights above are 18+, but there are exceptions in both directions. Twenties says in its FAQ that the minimum is 18 and that you need an original DNI, NIE or passport, with photos and copies refused. Costa Breve raises it to 21 on Friday and Saturday nights. And the Halloween 2026 parties on sale in the Zona Alta range from 21+ at La Biblio to 23+ at Sutton. If you're 16 or 17, the options are few and specific: Teatre in Sant Cugat bills itself as a 16+ night every Friday. Our age guide has the full table.

The term calendar sets the pace

Student nights follow the academic year. In 2026 the UAB started teaching on 7 September, the UB's first semester began on 14 September and the UPF's autumn term on 28 September, ending on 18 December. January is exam month (the UB's continuous assessment runs to 29 January 2027), so Thursdays get quieter. The UAB's second semester starts on 1 February 2027, and the UPF's winter term on 7 January. The four ESN sections (UB, UAB, UPF and UPC) organise welcome days and trips, but none publishes a fixed weekly club night with a date and venue, so we don't list one.

Outside Barcelona: CornellĂ  and Sant Cugat

If you study at the UAB or live in the metropolitan area, two clubs come up often. Malalts de Festa, on Carrer del Coure in Cornellà de Llobregat, opens Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays for 18+, and on Friday 30 October 2026 it has a university Halloween party. Teatre, on Carrer de Can Solà in Sant Cugat del Vallès, is the 16+ Friday night. Both are far from the centre, so plan the way back before you go.

Getting home on a weeknight

This is the part students forget. From Sunday to Thursday the Metro stops at midnight (TMB times refer to the last train leaving the end of the line), so after a Wednesday or Thursday night you'll be on the NitBus: night buses run from 22:30 to 06:00 every 20 minutes, and all lines except the N0 and N19 pass through Plaça de Catalunya, where you can change. On Fridays the Metro runs until 02:00 and on Saturdays it runs all night. Our night transport guide has the details by area.

Frequently asked questions

Which night is the student party in Barcelona?

Thursday is the classic one: La Biblio runs its University Party, Sutton has Jolie Thursdays and Twenties hosted a UPC student night on 22 October 2026. Wednesday is the second student night, with Costa Breve, Sutton and Bling Bling open.

Where can I go out at 18 in Barcelona?

Most clubs are 18+, and some publish it themselves, like Twenties, which asks for an original DNI, NIE or passport. Watch out for named nights that ask for more: Costa Breve's Friday and Saturday nights are 21+, and some Halloween 2026 parties in the Zona Alta are 21+ or 23+.

How much does a student night cost?

Midweek is cheaper. On 21 October 2026 Costa Breve sold entry at €4 for its Wednesday Back to Basics, and its Thursday advertised drinks at €3. Other clubs publish prices per night on their ticketing page, so check the night before you go or ask us on WhatsApp.

Do I need a student card?

None of the student nights in this guide says it asks for one. What you will need is an original ID to prove your age at the door: a photo on your phone or a photocopy is not accepted at clubs like Twenties.

How do I get home after a Thursday night out?

On Thursday the Metro stops at midnight, so after the club you'll be on the NitBus night buses, which run from 22:30 to 06:00 every 20 minutes and almost all pass through Plaça de Catalunya. On Fridays the Metro runs until 02:00.
